
On 1st September the $130bn merger of The Dow Chemical Company and DuPont was announced. Following the financial transaction the integration work will commence, which pulls the companies under a single holding called DowDuPont with three divisions – Agriculture, Materials Science and Specialty Products. SAMU supports the transformation of architecture and the integration work.
One of the largest mergers in history is underway as DuPont and DOW Chemicals unite and reshaped into 3 independent companies.
SAMU has been used by DuPont Pioneer to manage the enterprise architecture aspects of change initiatives and analyse their impact. From now on, the tool will serve as the architecture integration planning and governance platform.
The integration work is orchestrated by the enterprise architects of the organizations. As a first step, a like-to-like comparison is made. This, and the strategic business goals form the basis of the integration roadmap. The integration map describes the systems in use by the respective organizations and their relationships to each other in the same common meta-model. Moreover, it also indicates data flows and data dependencies. The integration work is then deconstructed into a set of auditable work packages that sequence the necessary technology transitions in a controlled manner.
